July has been the month for visitors! This week we hosted my brother Ryan and my sister-in-law Jenny, who were visiting between a wedding in Seattle and a wedding outside of Denver.
During one of our adventures, Dan and I took Ryan and Jenny to Ginger and Baker, a restaurant that I love for as much for the venue itself as for the food. When our group entered G&B pie shop, an employee named Suzanne spotted us and shared some details on the building’s $12 million renovation. When I asked if she would mind showing us a few behind-the-scenes spaces, she gleefully provided a detailed tour of the old grain mill-turned-restaurant.
I did not take many photos of the building, but we did snap a group picture in their stunning upstairs reception space — and we included Suzanne, of course. I’m not sure I’ve ever met a more friendly person in my life.
Another fun jaunt: mastering an escape room at Enigma in Old Town:
We found myriad shops to their liking, plus a great photo-op for Ryan and Jenny Garwood.
My brother and SIL love to hike, so we visited Lory State Park for a scenic walk to Horsetooth Reservoir…
…and stopped along the Poudre River Canyon on the way home.
(A huge thanks to Jenny, who is responsible for many of the photos in this post.)
I think we have successfully converted Ryan and Jenny into lifelong fans of Snooze, JJ’s Pizza, Jax, Topo, Wright Life, White Balcony, Clothes Pony, the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery and more.
The Garwoods have moved on, leaving my heart a little empty and my house too quiet. Come back to Fort Collins again soon (or hey, let’s meet up in Utah)!
