My best Christmas present for Dan this year came with a long wait*. While browsing the Front Range Community College course book, I found an 8-hour introductory workshop on blacksmithing… in April. Dan finally had a chance to attend his class this weekend.

Dan came home dirty and tired and wielding a rough knife made from an old file. (It will kill.)

The following are pictures that Dan took in his few breaks during class. It sounds as though their workshop is much more outfitted for welding than for blacksmithery — this is a very new course for FRCC — but the setup was perfectly suitable for beginners such as Dan.

*For Christmas, Dan gifted me a fly fishing rod and a class on how to use it, so I’m waiting too.
